Casco Viejo, or “the Old City of Panama”

Casco Viejo, or “the Old City of Panama” French Embassy in Casco Viejo Panama City Panama – Best Places In The World To Retire – International Livingis the historic city center of Panama. It is a peaceful and charming district of narrow streets, accompanied by balconies full of the flowers of two and three-story houses. At its end is the French Park, a monument to the French builders who began construction of the Panama Canal, and the beautiful French Embassy, pictured here.

On the boulevard around the monument, visitors have a good view of Mirador Amador and the Bridge of the Americas, and to the east the horizon of skyscrapers in the city of Panama.  A plaque commemorates the launch of canon shots to scare Colombian war vessels and the strengthening of theCasco Viejo, Panama City, Panama, as viewed from the air – Best Places In The World To Retire – International Living separation of Panama from Colombia in 1903.

On one side of the monument is an old Spanish structure called The Vaults, now used as a French art gallery and restaurant. Some great museums are located in the Old Town including the Canal Museum, which traces the history of Panama as the route connecting the Atlantic and the Pacific since pre-Hispanic times to modern times. Next door is the National History Museum and the old cathedral, with diamonds pearl spirals.

Nearby is a small museum dedicated to religious art, located in the former convent of Santo Domingo, where visitors can also see the famous Arco Chato, who allegedly helped convince engineers that Panama is earthquake-proof. In the Cathedral of San José a few blocks is the beautiful Golden Altar (pictured at the bottom), with carved wood inlaid with gold. Another beautiful building in Old Town is the Presidential Palace, which can be visited on Sundays.

The New Coastal Strip of Panama,The Subway, and Raspao

Yesterday, Holy Saturday, Mary and I Mary looking through telescope at Coastal Strip in Panama at night – Best Places In The World To Retire – International Livingwent to the church to ask God for the peace of the world and ask for our union.  It was a very beautiful and emotional Mass of 3 hours with songs and candles.

Then, after Mass, we went to see the new coastal belt.  We have no words to describe our excitement at seeing Panama growing this most beautiful day.  The belt goes from the Old Town (Casco Viejo) to the Bridge of the Americas.  It has playgrounds, skating parks, and stunning views.

After all the walking we decided to eat a raspao, which is a Panamanian crazy ice.  If you come to Panama you have to ask for a raspao; you cannot leave without trying it.

Then we decided to go to the METRO (subway), finally a means of modern transportation for the country of Panama where you can get across town in 15 minutes.  It is hard to describe how exciting it is to see our beautiful country growing and more modern every day.

We are very happy to welcome people from other countries and for everyone to know this little piece of heaven on earth.

A WONDERFUL PLACE PEDASI

A few days ago my girlfriend and I were in Pedasi to visit my father at his project.  The next morning we got up early and went to receive an update on the project.

In the afternoon we decided to have dinner at a restaurant called Amarettos, located in the Playa Destiladeros.  There was a beautiful moon, what seemed like a million stars, an amazing breeze, and great food.  We liked it so much we decided to book for lunch the next day.

In the evening we decided to go to dinner at an American restaurant SMILEYS.  Upon arriving for a few seconds you feel you are somewhere in the United States .. American, European; the Pedasi community is pretty big. We decided to order the famous ribs with mashed potatoes and salad, the best of the best; fully recommended ..

In the afternoon went to the dam at the La Represa River in Pedasi.  This dam was made at the time of the Second World War, to provide water to the military.  It's located within a private farm, so you can go walking but always leave everything clean.

I spent my last day at my father's project and rode my father's horse through beautiful trails.  Then we sat in the park of the house of my father, and I asked him how it feels to live in Pedasi.  He said  "It's the best thing that happened to me in my life.  I would not change anything.  I work on the project and I feel totally relaxed."
